EDUCATION: High School or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Monitor Tech certificate. Completion of an approved EMT training program or equivalent training within 6 months. EMT training preferred.
REQUIREMENTS: Under general supervision , performs emergency medical dispatcher, courteously receives telephone calls and processes maximum information in minimum time. Quickly and accurately assigns and dispatches appropriate EMS units. Timely and accurately utilizes computer aided dispatch system for complaint processing and unit dispatching. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac screen or telemetry monitors. Meets communication needs of the department. Maintains regulatory body requirements, policies and procedures and participates in performance improvement activities. Ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish preferred. This position is a 12 hour shift-days and nights
EXPERIENCE: 6 months in telecommunications or related field. Must have good working computer and office machine skills. Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure, exercising good judgment and telephone skills when dealing with callers. Computer and office machine skills.
