Qualifications to Apply:

Job Summary:
The Patient Access Manager provides leadership, motivation and guidance to the department. Manages admitting, PBX Operators, Central Scheduling, Outpatient registrations, Surgery, Radiology, Intervention Radiology, Emergency Department Functions and Financial Counseling. Assist Management Team in setting goals for the departments and action plans to achieve these goals.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develops and revises policies and procedures for the Patient Access teams. Is involved in the budget process and recommends purchase of equipment and systems.
- Develops and supervises staff through provision of timely feedback and use of appropriate Human Resources policies and tools to facilitate and ensure the ability of staff to achieve highest level of professional growth and desired performance standards.
- Develops, establishes, implements, and evaluates systems to monitor accuracy and timeliness of registration. Monitors up-front cash collection efforts and provides timely feedback to management team for fiscal responsibilities. Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to Registration, Admitting and Credit and Collections.
- Monitors and trends Key Performance Indicators for Patient Access. Trends results and reports findings to Director with recommendations for improvement as needed. Monitors and trends self-pay complex patients and trends progress for reporting to Director.
- Hires, fires, disciplines, evaluates, and effectively motivates Patient Access team to meet high levels of Service Excellence. In conjunction with Supervisors, ensures staff is scheduled appropriately and in accordance with volume and workflow indicators to ensure compliance with department goals
- Monitors QA results and identifies training opportunities or other solutions to address needs.
- Participates in various facility and system-wide process improvement teams and IT system implementations.
- Provides timely review and feedback to management team for fiscal responsibilities of designated areas, reflecting optimal use of all resources.
- Serves as a resource for staff to identify appropriate protocols regarding specific health plan criteria. Facilitates interaction with health plan, as necessary, to ensure compliance with current authorization guidelines and requirements.
- Works closely and cooperatively with all areas and departments of VVRMC to identify issues, concerns and areas for increased efficiencies to develop effective integrated solutions
- Reviews and assures that employee time is recorded accurately. Produces and keeps a current department record (attendance and counseling sheets).
- Registers and pre-registers patients as necessary to support the team.
- Acts as liaison with physicians, patients, ancillary departments, nursing staff, finance and all other hospital departments, insurance companies, government regulatory agencies and outside entities when problem occurs, problem solves and corrects all day to day operational problems and reports such problems to management.
- Nurtures an atmosphere of collaboration and team oriented interpersonal relationships, communication flow and information sharing between departments.
